Mission Statement

The Sunny Hills PTA continually strives to support and advocate for our children by partnering with teachers, parents, and the wider community to create a learning environment where Sunny Hills students can “Be the Best Me I Can Be”.

2009-2010 Goals

1. Ensure communications are received by all contingencies supporting Sunny Hills by utilizing multi-level tools:  website, email, eNews, paper
   1. Improve current website content, look, and feel.
   2. Implement a PTA picture board in the school office.
   3. Develop long-term plan for PTA electronic distribution of information.
2. Ensure a smooth school boundary change transition.
   1. Foster loyalty of the current Sunny Hills community by making sure their voices are heard, the impact of the transition is understood, and gaining wider parent involvement in PTA programs.
   2. Welcome new families to Sunny Hills through invitations to participate in PTA meetings and events, consistent communications, and being visible in the community.
3. Support incoming Kindergartners by developing a PTA Orientation committee.
4. Encourage 5^th grade student’s self-reliance in preparation for middle school.
   1. Implement student-run fundraiser.
   2. Incorporate student involvement in Kindergarten Orientation.

Please be sure to join the Sunny Hills PTA so every child will have a voice.  Our goal is to have 100% membership, which is one adult PTA member for each student at Sunny Hills.  Members receive discounts on purchases through www.pta.org/benefits, so keep your membership card when it comes!  All adults are eligible to join the PTA, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, and neighbors.  Our PTA is only as strong as our members, so please join today by filling out the enrollment line on the Back to School Information sheet.  Send the form in with your payment back to school with your student.  Questions?  Sydney Holderness, sydvshs@yahoo.com.
